Two days ago, One of our Beloved Authors and Editors passed away, Roger Blanpain.
I first met Roger during a Labour Law Conference in Stockholm, Sweden. I went together with publisher Karel van der Linda, so this was many many years ago.
Wolters Kluwer, together with Roger Blanpain we hosted a fabulous dinner in one of Stockholm’s finest restaurant. I remember it vividly, as it was my first (and last) time eating Reindeer… He will be missed.
Below a Note from our Publishing Team,
As a publisher, we were very grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Prof. Blanpain for many years and on many great publications. Our cooperation started in the 1970s with the International Encyclopaedia for Labour Law and Industrial Relations. Under his editorship and vision this publication grew into the International Encyclopaedia of Laws (IELS), the largest collection of comparative law monographs. His wealth of experience, both in academia and in practice, has been invaluable to the success of the IELs and many other high quality publications such as the Bulletin of Comparative Labour Relations series and Comparative Labour Law and Industrial Relations in Industrialized Market Economies. He leaves behind a truly impressive legacy which will continue to inform and influence academics and practitioners around the world.
It was a great honor and a pleasure to work with him and he was an inspiration to many. His great expertise, enthusiasm and dedication to his work as well as his charismatic personality will be sorely missed. On behalf of everyone at Kluwer Law International we extend our deepest sympathies to prof. Blanpain’s family and colleagues.
